Chapter 2

Chapter 2

The next day at 6:00pm, Bloop went over to Blob’s house and knocked on the door. Blob shouted “Come in,” from behind the door. Bloop walked in. “Great to see you! You can just leave your jacket in the spare room down the hall to the left,” Blob told him. Bloop walked down the hall and opened the first door on the left. Inside was a blue bed, wood dresser and an old TV. He took off his jacket and placed it on the bed. He went across the hall into the kitchen.
Blob was preparing the last of the food and placing it on the table. “I prepared what I hope will be the best meal you’ve ever tasted!” Blob told him. Bloop went into the dining room. On the table were bread, mashed potatoes, gravy, and turkey. “Wow. You really went above and beyond. I wasn’t expecting you to go through all this trouble. All I did was carry a few boxes inside and the couch and you did all this,” Bloop said. “Well, I do like to be a good neighbor. This seemed like something everyone would like!” Blob told him.

Bloop sat down at the table. “Go ahead, eat,” Blob said. Bloop began with a buttered slice of bread. It tasted amazing! Like it was homemade! Blob had promised him the best meal of his life and so far it was living up to it! Bloop then had some mashed potatoes. They too tasted great! Knowing Blob, he had probably grown the potatoes himself. “This is great! Did you grow these potatoes yourself?” Bloop asked. “I sure did! I love gardening! At my old house I had a garden in my backyard,” Blob responded. Bloop continued to eat. Next he took a piece of turkey. It was soft and juicy. He poured on some gravy and took a bite. Like all the other food, the gravy was great! “Did you make the gravy?” he asked. “What do you think?” Blob asked him. “It tastes great! You must have,” Blob responded. “Well yes I did! Thank you,” Blob said. Bloop dug in. It was a meal that was definitely fit for a king.

“Well, I better go. It’s getting late,” Bloop said. “Well, it was great seeing you! I hope to do this again sometime,” Blob said. Bloop walked out and went home. He felt like he was about to explode because he ate too much.

When he got home, it hit him that he should do Blob a favor. Besides, he hadn’t really done much for him. He moved a few boxes and helped carry a couch inside. Then, Blob prepared a huge meal. None of the pieces really fit together. He went into the backroom of his house and looked out the window. He saw his boat and the lake and remembered how much fun he had out there. Blob didn’t have a boat and Bloop thought he might really like to go for a ride. The water was still very cold but the ice was all melted.

Bloop went outside and picked up a gas can. He opened his garage and put the gas can in the truck of his shiny red sports car. He closed the truck, got behind the wheel, and drove down Sunset Road towards a gas station.

Bloop pulled into the gas station and filled the gas can to the top. He went inside and paid for his gas. He put the can back in the trunk of the car and drove back down Sunset Road towards his house.

He drove into his garage and parked the car. He popped the trunk and pulled out the gas can. Bloop closed the garage door and walked down the beach towards the water. He took off his boots, rolled up his pants and walked into the freezing cold water with the gas can in his hand. He hopped into the boat and filled the tank with gas. His legs were numb. He jumped back into the water and went onto the beach. He put his boots back on and walked up to the garage. He placed the can outside.

Bloop went inside and sat at his desk. He grabbed a piece of lined paper and began writing a letter. In the letter, he asked Blob if he wanted to go for a boat ride on the weekend. He said how he thought he did too much and would like to return the favor. He also wrote how it wouldn’t be any trouble because the boat already had gas in it. He folded the letter and slipped it inside an envelope. He sealed it and put it down.

The next day, when Blob was gone out, Bloop went over and placed the envelope in Blob’s mailbox. Then, he turned around and walked home hoping later he would get a knock on his door and Blob would be there saying he would go for a boat ride with him.
